HSIE is important at East Maitland Public School as we believe that it provides students with the opportunity to learn about other cultures in a safe and non-prejudice environment, in order to create a safe and respectful community.
A knowledge of History and Geography skills will give students an understanding of the community they live in. It will also aid students in understanding natural environments and the effect of human interaction, providing students with adequate skills to make positive choices in caring for their surroundings.
